The Region History Collection of Hajdúdorog is found nearby the Orthodox Catholic Cathedral, in a house built at the biginning of the 20th century. Its gate was opened before the visitors on 18th August 2000. Besides researchers Miklós Nyakas Dr. and Andrea Mislovics from Hajdúböszörmény, workers of the Hungarian National Museum - restaurator Dr. Judit P. Dombóváry, Zoltán Erdélyi kiállítás rendező, archeologist István Dr. Fodor took place in the arrangment of the exhibition.
The first permanent exhibition represents the traditional lifestyle of peasants and simple people. Besides the permanent exhibition there opened a temporal one as well, the title of which was the 'praise of the new bread'.
After the opening the collection became especially popular among the school aged children, for it gave and still gives place to historical and enviremental lessons.
The second permanent exhibition was opened on 5th January 2001 by county bishop Dr. Szilárd Keresztes. This exhibition bears both historical and ecclesiastical characteristics.
Hajdúdorog is the centre of the Hungarian Orthodox Catholic Religion. Tthe Orthodox Catholic Cathedral is also found here. The inhabitants of the town are deeply religious people. This also contributed to the fact that the opening ceremony of the second permanent exhibition was attended by many visitors. The exhibitions are permanently visited by many children and adults as well.
The region history collection aims to offer interesting programmes for the visitors, and - through the collection of items and effective backround works - become a stable cultural institute.
