The building at 159 Lajos Street was documented as a Bear House at the beginning of the 18th century. It was rebuilt as a dwelling house at the end of the century and attachments were built to it in the 19th century. This building is the Exhibition House of the Budapest Gallery today where contemporary exhibition s are held regularly, as well as the exhibition of the sculptor Pátzay Pál and the Varga Imre Collection. continue

The Budapest Gallery’s upcoming exhibition, So Far, So Good, which examines our everyday anxieties, the compulsion to be productive, burnout from overwork, and our reactions to all three, will open after a delay of almost three months. During the preparations for the exhibition, none of us reckoned with the possibility that, with the onset of a pandemic, these situations and feelings would become even more acute. continue
Permanent exhibitions
A permanent exhibition of the Capital Budapest opened in 1982. The small statues of Pál Pátzay are taken from the collection of the Historic Museum of Budapest. The showing is held in the Exhibition Ward of the Budapest Gallery. continue
