The art of Kálmán Makláry, according to one of the aesthetes, could be a typical instance of post-modern rationalism. Indeed. He walks an individual path, he follow an individual style. His paintings feed from cosmic consciousness, herald a new era. Makláry follows changes in the world, and paints everything that his call makes him. His love of art feeds from the roots.

His father was a violin artist who held his first one-man concert at the age of 13 at the Pest Vigadó. He was also interested in painting. His mother was born in Hajdúszoboszló. The brothers of his father, Zoltán and János were actors at the National Theatre. His parents lived in Budapest. They moved to Hajdúszoboszló after their house had been bombed. Kálmán was born in Hajdúszoboszló on 28 October 1947. He played in a band as a guitarist when young. Eventually, he turned to painting. He learned a lot from András Topor and József Szentgyörgyi. In New York he was fascinated by the art of William de Kooning and Fribourgban Tinguely. His encounter with Robert Hammerstiel in Düsseldorf was a determining event in his life. But he was mostly helped by an inner voice.
His most important exhibitions:
1991 - New York, Los Angeles;
1992 - Los Angeles, San Diego, San Francisco;
1997 - Paris, Dresden, Budapest Hilton;
2002 - Montreaux, London;
2003 - Amsterdam, Budapest;
2004 - Graz, Klagenfurt;
2005 - Budapest, Klagenfurt; Montreaux;
2006 - Keszthely, Amsterdam;
2007 - Nyíregyháza, Amsterdam, Klagenfurt, Budapest, Hajdúszoboszló
