Nearly one-hundred photos are shown at the exhibition by photographers from Nizhny Novgorod. The photos were all taken in the period 1850-2000. The exhibition is about the residents and the town, including the most important events in their lives.

The material is divided into three units: before the revolution, the Soviet era and the present times. However, the photos are not ordered in chronological order. The portraits and genre photos are more like an emotional approach of the town.

Classic artists of Russian photography such as as Andrej Karelin, Makszim Dmitrijev, Vaszilij Zeveke, és a szovjet korszak fotóművészei - többek között Lev Sapiro és NyiszonKapeljus, Sztanyiszlav Javorszkij és Jurij Spagin mellett kortárs Nyizsnyij Novgorod-i fotósok - Alika Jakubovics, Ilja Bubisz -, as well as the group MiG led byAlekszej Taraszov shoew their art.
