In the collection of Kiss Pál Museum, Tiszafüred we have got some bricks with stamps, coat of arms and initials. Last years we were given some new ones which have been excavated in different "sites". According to experts the stamps and the initials had referred to the owner of the land or the brick maunfacturers, where these products were made.

The feature of the stamps is very interesting. The mark of a key, a heart, a star, may mean that the stamped brick had been made in the 16-17th centuries. But in the 17-18th centuries date (year) and initials had been the marks. The measures of the brick are also important. Before the 19th century marks of bricks were convex.

In this exhibition we have bricks with initials "S", "MP", "MB", and "Hb". All of the marks are convex on the bricks. The measures of the brick marked "MP" are rather extrame: with its 26 cm of length, 18 cm of width and 4 cm of thickness. So this brick is estimated to be the oldest of all, it might have been made in the 15-16th century.

We got these bricks from Tiszaigar, a vilage next to Tiszafüred.

We have a lack of knowledge concerning the site of manufarturers where these stamped bricks had been produced. It needs more researching to find out the owners of initials.
