János Vasilescu Sr’s collection of works of art from the 20th century, the Vasilescu Collection was shown for the first time in February 2005 at the Municipal Museum of Art Gallery. The inventor Vasilescu was born in Romania, but moved to Hungary. He became a successful businessman and began collecting art in the 1960s. His collection grew gradually until 2002 when he decided to make it public.
