András Böröcz graduated as a painter from the academy; but it was Miklós Erdély who really influenced the beginning of his career. In the period from 1977 to 1991 he did performances with László Révész. He is famous for his spirited, elaborated statues: he makes statues of eggs, corks, but the most well-known of them are from pencils. He moved to live in the USA in 1986.

Some of the works of art he shows in Székesfehérvár were inspired by his family roots. He chose page pointers for reading of the holy book of the Jewish people, the Torah. Since the Torah must not be touched while being read, a pointer is needed to follow the Covenant. The end of the pointer forms a hand. The rich often commissioned goldsmiths to make the hand shape pointer ends. The poor usually had wooden pointers. The items made by Böröcz are such, since he feels that wood is the material closer to his character as an artist.
The exhibition also shows some of his new works: bread inspired object, drawings and videos, as well as ‘mirror-drawings’ that he carves on a special material 'Gold smoke'.
Böröcz is related to Székesfehérvár in many ways: several of his works art are on display at the permanent exhibitions of the New Hungarian Art Gallery. The last time he had a solo exhibition in town was 20 years ago.
