The Cultural Academy of the University of Tartu located in Viljandi launched folk textile training in 1994. The training is based on Estonian ethnic textile heritage.

The exhibition presents works of art by students from the university, as well as modern interior decoration and clothing applying traditional textile technique, designed by the specialist teachers Christi Kütt and Riina Toomberg. The visitors will have insight into the visual language characteristic of objects related to daily life of Estonian people, as well as traditional fancywork, and also characteristic colours and patterns certain regions apply in their folk art.
