The poet Mária Hegedűs is a visual artist and also a pedagogist. She was born in Hajdúnánás in 1951. After graduating from secondary school in 1969, she worked as an unskilled labourer in Csepel. Then, from 1970 to 1974 she worked as the Municipal Cultural Centre in Hajdúnásás as an educator of people until she graduated from the Liszt Ferenc Teachers' Training Collage.
