Following a public announcement in the suburbs of Hódmezővásárhely, the so far largest silver coin treasure was discovered on 14, 15 December 2009. 67 items from the 16th century, the first years of the Fifteen Years War. The artefacts that were hidden centuries ago are the late medieval coin treasures excavated under authentically documented circumstances. The crowns were discovered by professionals in an area of about 500 square meters, from the top layer of plowing. In addition to the silver coins the 16-petals, flower-shaped, gold-plated bronze coin suggests that the crowns were hidden in a fancy, possibly leather pouch.

The exhibition presenting the finds from Kingéc complete a more than one hundred sixty-page catalogue on the discovery, restoration and process of the scientific work. Employees with the Tornyai János Museum, in addition to the definition and description of the individual coins, attempted to find out the contemporary value of the coins as well as the background and social situation of the person who hid them. The crowns were made during a 70 year period, between 1526 and 1527. The 66 coins were issued by 31 mints. The museum staff conclude considering the earliest coin treasure that the owner of the purse must have dug a portion of its assets not long after 1594. One of the coins is, however, a contemporary forgery, a copper coin covered with a silver foil. The visitors are invited to enter the world of medieval coinage by way of photos and illustrations.
