Flow is the psychology of the perfect experience, based on the ideas of Mihály Szentmihályi. According to Szentmihályi, Flow is the optimal human existence, the positive aspects of the experience - the joy, creativity, taken on full stream. This rare subjective condition usually occurs when someone deliberately intensify their physical or mental performance to the utmost. According to the psychologist, joyful life is an individual work, leading a passive consumer life does not offer true happiness and contemplation. A perfect experience is based on the "flow", that is the phenomenon during which we are so dissolved in our activity that everything else flies by. The experience itself is so enjoyable that we want to continue the activity at any cost, just for its own sake - says the researcher.

The exhibition presents photos of people who chose to have an uncommon strategy for life, who experience the "flow" during their everyday activities. Art has an innumerable opportunity to experience the flow as the process of creation requires full concentration. The photographers spent a longer time in the group of their choice, studying internal group dynamics, individual human lives, getting to know personal stories in order to create their photo reports. The photographs on display bear witness to in the impressions of the photographers, their subjective experiences. They saw their subject not as an outsider, instead, they provided character report of the subjects and their chosen and voluntary lifestyle, through which they got close to the "perfect experience".

Photographers participating in the exhibition present a series of photos, a theme represented by 6-8 photos. Some of the photos were made specially for the project while others were made earlier, however they still fit the theme of the exhibition.

Pictorial Collective

The Pictorial Collective is a group featuring Hungarian photographers and photo reporters. Their beginning was motivated by forming a community of photographers, in which members work independently, but inspired each other. Their intention is to make the Pictorial a professional studio by their individual approach but similar sense of photography.
