The Tiszafüred region has always been famous for its wicker matting and home industries. The Tisza floodplains were abundant in the necessary raw materials, so the last 200 years a lot of people were involved in this craft. such were e.g. the mats maker Tibor Kovács from Mezőtárkány, who is currently engaged in making baskets, containers and other consumer goods.
