The first time the Halas Lace was shown to the public was at the Christmas Exhibition at the National Museum of Applied Arts in 1902, organised by the Applied Arts Society. The exhibition that was opened at the Museum of Applied Arts on 13 December 2012 is to recall what happened in the history of the lace in the past 110 years. Before the Halas Lace, the so-called air sawn lace had no tradition in Hungary. The first real sawn lace was the Halas Lace in Hungary. It was designed by Árpád Dékáni and was produced by Mária Markovits.
