Pápa - during the time of reformation and in later centuries - played an important role in the religious life of Trans-Danubia. The Calvinist school was established in 1531. The school played an important role in the cultural and intellectual life of teh trown and in the rraining of the Calvinist intellects. Its history is closely connected to the history of the Calvinist church right from the beginning of the reformation.
