The group of artists called ‘Sezession Graz’ was formed by the painter Wilhelm Thöny, Fritz Silberbauer and Alfred Wickenburg in 1923. This was the last groups founded in relation to the movement that is called Secession in Central- Europe. Compared with former secession trends formed in Munich, Berlin and Vienna, it was not style that was in centre in Graz but contemporary art. It suited the needs of the generation.
