The Local Governments of Debrecen and Nagyszalonta applied together to create the exhibition, aiming at tourism between these two towns. The museal objects on display are from various Debrecen based collections (literary collection of the Déri Museum; the manuscript and archives of the Calvinist Collage of Debrecen, the Hajdú-Bihar County Archives), as well as items from the Arany János Memorial Museum. These items together are on display for the first time.

The records on display reveal much more than dry facts about the years when János Arany was a student in Debrecen, e.g. the visitor may also find out about his mischief. The unappeasable interest in theatre in the town of Debrecen is demonstrated by an original playbill.

The room interiors of the flat in Nagyszalonta illustrate the years János Arany spent in town as a notary. We show a number of original objects that János Arany himself held in his hand. We show his cane, hat, rack, a three piece tea set he received from Sándor Petőfi. So, the visitors may even imagine the two of them having coffee together.

The last years of the poet are represented by his desk on which he put down the words for the poetic cycle Őszikék, and also one of the first editions of his poetry volume.
