The existence of the Visual Art Collection of the Klapka György Museum is the result of decades of work.

The collecting work was launched by the founder of the museum, László Kecskés. He continued this endeavour until his death in 1995. The collection consists of works of art by artists born or somewhat related to Komárom, regardless if they are from or outside of Hungary.

The works of art are by the painters Kálmán Angyal, Sándor Basilides, Károly Harmos, György Lenhardt, László Leszenszky, Péter Mester and Pál Mester, Márton Nagy, György Rauscher, the sculptor Gyula Berecz and the Munkácsy Prize awarded tapestry artists Ágnes Kecskés. The visitors will also see a painting of Mór Jókai.
