The Mohács Fine- and Applied Art Salon is held the eighth time in 2008 presenting artworks by artists living or from the region .

During the eight salons earlier, 239 amateur artists showed 492 artworks. Every time, 10-10 artists were nominated for awards and nine of them received prizes. All nine artists were offered an opportunity for a showing in the past eleven years.
An interesting feature of the Mohács Salon is that not only the professional jury but visitors could also vote and an audience prize was also presented that also came with the opportunity of a showing. Besides the winners of the main and audience prize, several other awarded artists had the opportunity to show organized by the self-government Of the Town of Mohács and the Junior Art Foundation.
In 2008 40 applicants sent in 163 paintings, 163 graphics, statues, ceramics and various fine- or applied artworks. The jury, - the art historian Dr. Kovács Orsolya, the painter and graphic artist Erdős János, the ceramic artist and applied artist Keményffy Gábor, - chose 79 artworks, at least one by every participating artists. According to the jury, the quality of works sent in this year was outstanding.
Just like earlier, there are newcomers, many of them young or quite unknown artists this year. Most of the acknowledged artists from Mohács are also with us this year proving that they are still very important on the art scene of the town.
Awarded artists this year are: Bauhoffer József painting, Hemrich László painting, Kedves István graphics, Kedves János painting, Kéméndi Zsolt painting and graphics , Muk Etelka silk picture, Reininger László ceramics, Sas Zsuzsa fire enamel, Tatai Tibor graphics, Oláh János won the main prize with his painting.
