Velekei József has been showing his artworks ever since 1972. Many of his works are displayed at public places in Hungary.

Urbán Ágnes writes the following of his art: The two poles of his art are sculpturing and drawing. His works made with traditional means talk in a language that is an individual mythology that synthesized surrealism. In the abstract forms, we recognize man, tree, cross, gate, bird, seed motifs that associate with ribbon-like forms or falling, cutting edges. Soft and hard, sharp and blunt, empty and full forms collide or melt into units in his compositions. We may witness the birth of worlds where the wish to fly, breaking and restarting are just as it was in our own world. It is told to us in a language that speaks about birth of decay, the continuous changes, creation and metamorphosis. This all talks with the passion of knowledge, the search for certainty.
