He became involved in arts as the member of the circle of friends of the Rose Pub in 1976-1980. His early black and white photos, self portraits and portraits suggesting role and language plays were emphatic. (Self portrait (female), (1977); (I Burn, 1975) and his black and white series (Nude Descending the Stairs (1978). He made concept art related to the classic examples made with texts (Free Message, 1977), minimalist installations in which he used and manipulated light phenomena (Kidnapping Lines, 1976),His actions were also recognized (Let us Draw the World!, 1975-76) as well as his performances (Opening, 1982) and the visual documentations of these. From the beginning of the 80`s, his interest turned towards graphics and painting. The graphic work titled `This Day is Beautiful` is known as the emblem of the Rabinext (1982). These and his monumental oil painting designed the change in his style.
András Koncz, Matisse is talking about a woman 2001. oil, canvas, 150x200cms
The large oil canvas circle shaped pictures and those painted on records had prism-like effects. (Listen to Me!, 1983). These can be characterized with the tension from the duality of ironic conceptualism. From the middle of the decade classic art, mithology and antiquity, as well as thier motifs and the enigmatic visual scenes inspired his stylistic figures. He mainly used basic colors to produce these paintings. (Discs Thrower, 1985; Interior, 1985).

The compositions and paintings breaking up the space and full of constitutive deficiency are characterized by dynamic handling of the brush, as well as the constant presence of the color white spread pastouse-like. These were so characteristic of Koncz's art in the 80's. Sometimes half-man half-animal figures typical of pop art appear in his pictures (Rabbit, 1987). He often uses elements from classical art, lends motifs, in his genre painting showing everyday scenes and figures. He rented the figures mainly from Picasso, but sometimes from Greco as well. These are the first examples of transavant-garde/postmodern in Hungary. From 1990 decorative musters and sometimes letters appeared in his works.

The relations of figure and muster modeled the specific features of sensible painting, as well as the problems of the surface and motifs in wide strokes of the brush and intensive colors. Koncz painted the different pictures of visual culture, the pictures that are built on the dualism of Disney figures, the Roman antique buildings and ruins in Rome as a scholar in 1995-1996. The thematic tension of these are emphasized with drawings with lines and the interplay of surface and colored muster. (Just Like Me 1996)
