The exhibition has closed for visitors.
2004.12.17. - 2005.03.24.
The exhibition was organized in memoriam Tamás Széchy, the most successful Hungarian swimming trainer of all times. He worked out his training program himself and applied it with implacable consistency. He did not get anybody involved in his work. He was self willed and lonely.

The success he achieved proved him right. He became an unappealable authority. He raised Olympic-, world-, and European champion swimmers. His swimmers trusted him, even those who did not like him personally very much. Everybody was afraid of him and everybody admired the vocation of the 'Old man'. His name is connected to the most shining period of the history of Hungarian swimming. One of the last revenges was the success of Dániel Gyurta, the young swimmer whom Széchy discovered, at the Olympics in Athens.
We show photos recalling the stations of his life, his notes, training schedules, his awards and rewards received from the state and the profession, and his personal belongings in showcases. The visitor may learn about the 'Pope of the swimmers' when wondering in his study. The chair in which he passed away is also displayed here. A detail of a dressing room of the swimming pool gives space for the introduction of the location of his workplace.
His most successful swimmers are also introduced (Dr. András Hargitay, Dr. Zoltán Verrasztó, Dr. Csaba Sós, Albán Vermes, Róbert Rudolf, Dr Sándor Wladár, Tamás Darnyi, József Szabó, Tamás Deutsch, Norbert Rózsa, Attila Czene, Péter Horváth, and Attila Zubor) by way of photos and pageants showing their success.
His name appeared again when the naming of the new swimming center of the Margitsziget was discussed. We display the model of the new Hajós-Széchy Sports Swimming Center as well.
