The ninety-year-old French photographer Marc Riboud, who took one of the most famous, iconic anti-war photographs, which was shown at the exhibition selected from the Howard Greenberg collection at the Mai Mano House, is now showing photos taken at the Far East.

Marc Riboud is a member of the generation of photographers, which focused on humanism, the essence of his life and work in the post-World War II. It is the set of values that determined daily life and future after the termination of threat and common hardships.

In the period between 1976-1979, h e was a member of the legendary Magnum Photo Agency established In 1947. Of the founders, Capa, Henri Cartier-Bresson were his close friends.

Capa sent him to London to see the world. During his travelling east, letters by Henri Cartier-Bresson awaited him, sometimes wit practical advice on travelling, other times with insights of his photos.

Pictures at the Marc Riboud exhibition invite the visitors to sites of a three-year tour at exotic locations. His vision opens up and the sensitivity with which he immortalized cultures unknown for him as well. Following his curiosity stemming from his personality these mysterious worlds opened up for him so naturally as if he had known all their meaning

He was interested in people and life while he experienced the ability of how to wonder at the world in his photographic works. Emotions always appear rigorous compositions in his pictures. The exceptional intertwining of form and meaning means no aesthetics can exist without ethics.

We selected from his photos taken in Turkey, India, Nepal, Japan, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Iran and China. The exhibition features approximately seventy-images from the period between 1955 and 1958.
