The series of exhibitions titled "Young Artists from Balaton" have started in 2006 in order to bring young artists, who are standing at the beginning of their career, closer to the public.
The graphic artist Csongor Horváth with his non-conventional pop-art style set is from Keszthely.
The title "Startoon" which was created from the words "star" and "cartoon", indicates the artist's theme: visual culture in the movies and animations in the 1970-80-90ies.
The pictures include a common element with a visual gag which means the mixing of well-known tale figures with popular music or TV personalities by "mash-up" technique. The artist - in the name of his generation - brings to surface a nostalgic feeling from the childhood this way. The Hungarian children and youth's cultural taste was impressed in the 1980-90 ies peculiarly by the Walt Disney cartoons and the western (American) movie films with their international stars. By this artistic interpretation visitors can meet these figures as new creatures.
