Francisco José de Goya y Lucientes' (30 March 1746 - 16 April 1828) graphics, etchings and aquatint prints made him a very special artist in the history of graphic art. The court painter Goya became famous for his portraits of the royal family. In 1973 he began working on small pieces for which engraving proved to be the best choice. He did not do prints on commission.
