Gusztáv Ütő (Sepsiszentgyörgy, 1958-) is a painter, graphic artist, performance artist, teacher, designer and researcher of action art. He graduated from the Visual Arts Lyceum in Marosvásárhely then he continued his studies at the Ion Andreescu Visual Art Institute as one of the students working with Béla Nagy. He received his diploma in 1982.

In the period from 1982 to 1986 Gusztáv Ütő worked as an art teacher in Medgyes. From 1987 to 1990 he was a window dresser in Sepsiszentgyörgy, but he also lead an art group of students. He joined the Society of Romanian Visual Artists in 1990 which he presided over in 1991-1992. He established the Alternative Art Group ETNA in 1991. In 1990 1991 he and Imre Baász, after 1991 until 1999 alone was the organizer for the AnnART International Living Art at the Lake Saint Ana.

Gusztáv Ütő has worked as a painting teacher for the Art Lyceum of Sepsiszentgyörgy since 1991. He keeps multimedia collections at the Míves House in Sepsiszentgyörgy, nowadays also at the Lábasház. As manager of the Etna Foundation, he also organizes action art meetings and the curator of those. He led the contemporary art group TRAnnSYLVAnnART from 2003 to 2007. He began his PhD studies at he Hungarian Academy of Art in 2005. he became a professor at the Partium Christian University. He was awarded with the Munkácsy Prize for his organizer activity.

Gusztáv Ütő paintings and action art works express traditions, the values he discovered in the land he was born, his affection to the region and his conscious drawing on these, providing alternative ways of how to give value and stimulate, not forgetting about social criticism.

The exhibition series named 'Selection' at the Gyárfás Jenő Art Gallery, at the Magma Exhibition Room, at the Lábasház, at the Míves House is the third solo exhibition of the artist Gusztáv Ütő in the town of his birth.
