The Mosonmagyaróvár local government and the Moson Civic Circle celebrate the 1000 year of existence of the Comitatus system and the people in Moson Comitatus with a two-day international meeting and a number of additional programs on 28-29 May. One of the opening events is the temporary exhibition at the Hanság Museum called 'Bright Centuries of Moson - The Era of Kings from the Árpád House'.
Moson is frequently mentioned in the Chronicon Pictum and a number of other medieval chronicles in relation to events taking place in the 11th century. The reason for that is because the comes centre in Moson played significant role those times. Another reason is that Moson shared borders with the west. The castle was often the location of German- Hungarian wars. The important events are demonstrated by pages from the Chronicon Pictum, on which the pictures are outstanding works of art of European miniature painting. In addition, finds from the Árpád age demonstrate the 11-13 history of Moson
A miniature reconstruction of the one-time castle in Moson was set up in the museum yard. Inside the several storey and large edifice, a period contemporary blacksmith workshop is to be set up. The visitors can try the blacksmith tools, and can also see early medieval weapons and military technology.
