HER CREDO
A taste of the exhibition
As I see myself, from the outside:
The photographer Kati Baricz for whom time has stopped, (!?) has been involved in taking photography for nearly fifty years. She mainly photographs people, gorgeous people, in black and white, on film. It is she herself who develops the photos in her laboratory bathroom at home. She calls them ORIGINAL pictures.

My biography in short, freely

1948-2008 My life, full of fight and experiences. My life is freedom. Due to my anxious personality, I am always on the run. I keep oh photographing the present for solely myself taking heed of my instincts. I am careful with anything new, unknown may it be technology or man. I am old fashioned. Ever since I lost my parents my value system has changed. I returned to nature I cannot stop wondering at, taking care of. I don't want to rule it but accept the powers of the universe; I want to find my body in it, my harmony.

I celebrated an anniversary this year. It is good to know, to solve, to understand why I came to Earth, where I came from and who really I am.

About the exhibition

My exhibition in Mohács is a review of my work of the past 50 years in the everlasting cycle of life, from where I set off and where I have partly returned after forty years of absence.

In the footsteps of André Kertész I am mostly involved in classic photography. I began consciously dealing with symbols, the perpetuation of traditions. My pictures are not illusions, are not idols serving consumer society. During sighting and recording reality, spiritual world touched me, it is, spiritual world, ancient art and the life of primitive people.

In the chaos of material world, I believe that humanity can be saved by the love of nature, the free flow of spirituality, tolerance, faith and love. I hope, these are not empty words only.

I work to make the viewer standing in front of the picture just like I do during working. Pictures are not only about beauty, though they portray reality beautiful, without any application of Photoshop.

I know now, I was born to be a photographer in a very exciting era. Taking photographs is a lifestyle; this is also something I learned. It requires a whole person.
