Peope has practiced the craft of weaving for over ten thousand years to make cloths of the textile. It was a hard craft from producing the raw material through its collection to weaving. With the wide spreading of the steam machines weaving and spinning was mechanized. By now, these crafts performed by hand are almost entirely extinct. There is only one workshop in Hungary where a weaver works, but over eighty applied artists continue this beautiful craft.
A taste of the exhibition
We show handmade textiles with a taste of the work of the weavers of the past. We show their tools and equipments as well as those of the artists. The two carpets of Torontal, the works of Székely dyers and the Kilim carpets are of special importance.

We show two looms, one from the 19th century and one made recently. Lőrincz Péter shows the audience at the exhibition how the loom works.
