For the third consecutive year now, Budapest Photo Festival chose a classic genre as an inspiration for contemporary Hungarian photographers. This time, the organizers were looking for works that interpret or redefine the landscape genre, or continue along well-established, traditional lines. Pictures that fit into the broader concept of landscape photography were welcome for this year's open call.

The exhibition in Kiscelli Museum is compiled with our final selection of almost 50 photographers. They approached the contemporary interpretation of the landscape genre from the direction of the rich fine art traditions. Among the exhibited works one can find both the analysis of the – all the more problematic – relation between nature and humanity in the 21st century, the narrative pictures and the ones projecting outer (physical) and inner (spiritual) landscapes that transform non-existent scenes into tangibly real and personal images. Although the execution, the atmosphere and the message of the works is rich, colorful and diverse, just like the contemporary Hungarian photographic scene; the exhibition also showcases a strong metaphysical feature, an ontological urge that fits into the ever present need of self-expression. Still life exhibition is realized in the framework of Budapest Spring Festival and in the cooperation of Budapest Photo Festival and Kiscelli Museum.
