Special selection by the graphics artist Géza Bognár made for this exhibition is featured in the year's first temporary exhibition of the Danube Museum.
I was born in 1954 in Esztergom. I graduated from the School of Technology in Esztergom-kertváros. The chemical engineering profession proved to be quite a wrong choice; however I kept on drawing for over four years. The drawings I did during classes were featured in my first exhibition in 1973. After graduation, I learned the craft of goldsmiths, but drawing accompanied my years there as well. My master noticed my graphics and recommended them to the art editor of the publishing company 'Magvető' who later on became my mentor. I did illustrations for eight years. My graphics were especially published in pulp magazines. However, I also illustrated books – Hasek: The Good Soldier Svejk, Karinthy: The Tragedy of Little Man, Italo Calvino: The Cloven Viscount, Jack London', Mikszáth' and numerous other writer's work. I consider my tutor a wonderful man, Ferenc Furlán. I was lucky to constantly work with him in the house of culture in Dorog. I had solo exhibitions in galleries in Dorog, Dömös and Esztegom, in addition to several collective exhibitions. For thirty years I worked as a master jeweller, and during that time almost entirely neglected the drawing. Two great men, Balázs Szepesi and my cousin the painter Gabriella Brassai inspire me to grab the pencil again. I'm grateful for that, because I was feeling the peace of mind again coming from drawing."
