A real treasure is on display for those interested at the newly opened folk art exhibition of the Móra Museum in Szeged. The special dressing table that once belonged to the wife of Pista Dankó is presented within the walls of the Palace of Culture, which has recently been restored. The work of art is also unique because during the last days of Pista Dankó's life, his wife's put the legendary musician's fiddle on it so that he would be able to reach it from his bed where he was lying sick.
The exhibition "From Home Made Soap to Face Cream " presents the table in addition to a number of interesting facts, nearly one hundred objects of peasant and civic grooming, beauty care and fashion. We can see make up items, combs, perfume bottles, hairdressing facilities, as well as a contemporary shaving box furnished with "child lock".
With the exhibition we may have a peek into the dawn of Hungarian beauty culture: through humorous beauty-related advertising that makes you smile and we try to shed light on how our ancestors thought about our beauty and cosmetics.
