The exhibition series Treasures Rescued – as the title reveals - is a newly restored works of art on view at the National Museum of Hungarian. In addition to the exhibits, posters with a brief description and photos illustrate the condition before the intervention, results of the restoration and important steps of scientific studies.

The Hungarian National Museum, as institution involved in the training of applied art conservators, has shown Treasures Rescued restoration graduate students graduation works since 2001. The museum attaches importance to the holding of this exhibition, as the industrial art restorer training in Hungary takes place in cooperation with the university, and in collaboration with the museum professionals. The exhibition series has become a tradition by now and is a great example of the effort on the part of the Ministry, how can the cultural and educational sectors as closely as possible, as efficiently as possible ways to cooperate to create value.

This year, the exhibition is located in the Pulszky-room, which is worthy place for the new-generation restorers' debut, and also allows an insight to the profession, providing a comprehensive picture of the restoration training as well.

The exhibition was realized in collaboration of the National Museum, the University of Fine Arts, as well as national and church collections lending works of art.

Our aim is to highlight that all surviving artefacts - regardless of genre or the current market value - is part of our cultural heritage. Their protection, restoration and preservation may they be public, church, or private property, should be provided by correct ethical requirements of the restoration and scientific methods. An important pillar of cultural heritage protection institutional strategy for the National Museum is conservation, restoration of works of art then presenting them an annual basis to the public.
