The life and work of the Munkácsy Mihály Prize awarded merited artist Irén Szuppán has focused on the exploration of Ikat technique and its sensitive application ever since 1981. In addition to her figural compositions she makes wall hangings reminiscent of abstract concepts. Her peaceful restrained works exude peace of mind with their fineness.

Ikat is a technique applied in the Far East that employs a resist dying procession the warp fibre. The threads are dyes by hand one by one before weaving and with this patch-like effect are created. Therefore, the technique is an interesting combination of hand dying and weaving.
