You live on nature that touches you. Relive it!
New perspectives of Easter: Happy spring rebirth!

The Balaton Museum deals with Easter festivities curiosities in terms of material culture and folk customs.

A small selection from this spring bouquet: female practices, folk religion, and the mystery of the resurrection, eggs embroidery art: Beautiful 120-year-old, scratched eggs from Keszthely, and also "three storey Easter eggs" from Somogy - including many masterpiece decorated with poetry: "Take this red painted egg, it comes from my heart, so that you remember me and will never forget." - reads an inscription on one egg.

Let us become tender like spring!

“Easter Forget-me-Not”

Forget-me-not - Old favourite of spring flowers growing in the garden. It carries its meaning in its name. The symbol of loyalty, love and remembrance. Popular motif of folk art.

Do not forget! – Therefore, you get the Easter egg, which is often decorated with a reminiscent subtitle, name, date saying "to remember.”

Forget-me-not – The little blue flower is a symbol of divine providence: it culminates in the mystery of the resurrection.

Do not forget! - The essence of Easter mystery is the resurrection. At Easter we celebrate the resurrection and suffering of Jesus Christ. Life from death. In the eternal cycle of nature in spring everything is revived, all is "resurrected". Life will spring from death.

Our little exhibition reminds us traditions of the Church related to rebirth in spring just like the little flower 'forget-me-not' does it. Material from the Balaton Museum in Keszthely and the Thúry György Museum of Nagykanizsa deal with Easter traditions in the Balaton, Somogy Zala County region.
