The Balaton Museum is arranging the exhibition partly selecting from its own material, partly of objects people sent in following the initiation in 2014. The visitors will find out how the war changed the life of common people, the soldiers and their families back home and how they lived through the last days of the Austro-Hungarian Empire.
A number of posters, newspapers, postcards, letter excepts, quotes will be shown. We will also select some weapons, cap badges and thousands of medals, the most expressive pieces, war propaganda items from POW camp relics. The objects have their own family and personal stories. The traditional showcase and pageant way of showing is complemented by a digital pager, a screen as well as contemporary footages while soldier songs are being played.
Curator: Gabriella Haász, the historian museologist for the Balaton Museum
