Marco Polo said of Burma 800 years ago that it was one of the most beautiful place in the world. The largest country in Indochina, Burma is the place for the most enthusiastic Buddhists, however, its population of 45 million are still not religious fanatics. Everything is different in Burma: we drive on the left and may often get on the bus in the middle of the road. Women often smoke cigar, their faces are smeared in a clay-like cream so that they will not burn in the sun. Man wear longi that look like skirt. Their writing is not readable by no one except for them Often, the top of sanctuaries are thickly covered with gold, but a large part of the population cannot afford the traditional costume - Vietnam slippers- so they walk barefoot.
One of the largest ruin field is located in Burma, in Bagan where there is 'only' 4000 sanctuaries these days. The Bagan kingdom was destroyed by Mongol hordes.
Pictures by Tamás Bárdos are now to bring this special country closer to the visitors.
