Hungary is unbelievable rich in woodcarving products as almost each region has its own woodcarving tradition. The most well-known products of these masterpieces are the ornamental entrances, the balcony columns, the decorative house and roof facades.

Kiss Mátyás, the master of woodcarving has dealt with woodcarving for more than 25 years as he had decided to become a wood carver. He considered starting a woodcarving business. It not only lets him work what he likes the best, but it also makes money at the same time. Before starting his business he investigated the woodcarving tradition of his home place, Mezőkövesd and he could realize that all the villages and towns have their own, long-lasted woodcarving tradition which is different from each other. He has participated in many events and exhibitions in Hungary and abroad. His carved statues, decorated gates, ornemental entrances, balcony columns, roof facades, door and window frames can be found in more than 100 settlements in Hungary and in the neighbouring countries. He was awarded the official title of ’Pro Urbe Mezőkövesd’.

He believes that our woodcarving tradition and our woodcarving culture can contribute to a better living circumstances for those who are proud of their own cultural tradition.
