The title will betray something of the theme of the exhibition. It is about children at play, but unlike museum methods, this time the approach to it is neither historic, nor social.

The exhibition is supported by the National Cultural Found. The considerations for the application evaluation was something new this time. They Found wanted museums to show items that have not been show at all or recently to the public. It was just like the expectation what the Toy Collection of the Laczkó Dezső Museum can fulfil. The starter of the collection was dr. Emőke Lackovits i 1979. The items in the collection were last shown four decades ago, since then new toys were added to it, mainly from the Kádár era. The curators selected from this collection to be shown together with other items citizens from Veszprém offered to us and also some photos.

Thus, the exhibition we can say is about children playing alone at home, in kindergarten or in groups. The exhibition also speaks of the universality on playing, independent of time period or social classes.

In addition however, due to the approach of the museum, naturally we offer a kind of spirit of local history. Archive photos reveal how children of Tihany, Veszprém ér Városelőd played at housing estates that have been gone for long now, or how they played at the lake or on the merry-go-round named Sputnik.

The exhibitio is open until 10 August 2014. During opening hours, we offer a number of additional programs for adults and children as well.
