The new temporary exhibition presented by the Hungarian National Gallery commemorates successful Hungarian participants at the Olympics of the past 112 years on occasion of the XXX. Summer Olympics
Prizes, medals, badges and several other special items that are rarely shown or just shown for the first time are to provide for the best atmosphere for the future success of Hungarian athletes at the Olympics in London. In addition to period postcards, calendars, there are also well-known mascots are to be seen while, in the meantime the visitors may also test their knowledge about the success of Hungarians at the Olympics.
On 5 October, new items were added to the collection which were purchased via the auction announced by the Sport Alchemy Foundation and the homepage vatera.hu.
Among others, the fencing glove of the Olympic champion Áron Szilágyi, the signed jersey of the also Olympic champion kayaker Danuta Kozák and also the swim trunk of László Cseh that he wore in London were auctioned. Éva Csernoviczki, the first Hungarian runner up in the judo competitions, offered the judo gi belt she had on in London for the auctions to be held on 24 September. The female water polo team offered three relics also.
In November, we are to add new items to the collection. Olympic participants offered some more items, for example the kayak of the duo Kökény-Dombi, swim cap of the Olympic champion Dániel Gyurta and the track suit of the also Olympic champion Krisztián Berki.
The items are accompanied by a collection of photos uner the name decisive Moments organised by the magazine Digital Photo. 200 photos by nine photographers from London are also on display, including 80 photo enlargements 106 slides are on display by László Balogh for Reuters, László Beliczay, Tibor Illyés, Péter Kollányi, Anikó Kovács and Tamás Kovács for MTI/MTVA, István Huszti for Index and Zoltán Tuba for Origo.
