The pictures on display were taken over 70 years ago in villages in Upper Hungary. The photographer, Lajos Nagy was born on Naszvad, a village 7-km from Éreskújvár, in 1911. All her grandparents and parents were from the village of Naszvad.

Lajos Nagy was the oldest son in the family, and according to tradition, he managed the family farm until the age of 25. When a photographer from Érsekújvár, Jenő Supala, visited the village and met Lajos Nagy, he was so amazed that he decided to learn the skill of photographers. This is how his career began. He was determined, and demanding in his work.

Lajos Nagy considered photography his profession. Thousands of photos he took in Naszvad and the suburbs were later on used by ethnographers.

I hoped the exhibition could be a monograph about the village, though not in words but images. I selected the photos of those Lajos Nagy considered valuable, or talk about some locations or people.
