Marcell Jankovics is a graphic artist cartoon director animator and author. This time we only highlight the most widely known activities of his rich oeuvre. The Kossuth Prize awarded artist, who was also among the founders of the Duna TV, was the first Hungarian to receive the Leonardo da Vinci International Art Award in 2009 for his work in contemporary visual art.
A taste of the exhibition
Animation movies of considerable success such as the Hungarian Folk Tales, a Sir John , a Fehérlófia, and the az Song of the Magic Deer are assigned to him.. He received Oscar nomination for his short film Sisyphus in 1974. In 1977 he received the Palm d'Or for this movie in Cannes in 1977.

He wrote a script to Madách Imre’s The Tragedy of Man in 1983. The film will be finished soon after twenty year of work.

The material on display in the Szombathely Art Gallery is a selection of illustrations that Marcell Jankovics made for the Tragedy of Man, and the Song of the Magic Deer>.

A The opening ceremony is followed by the world premiere of the except from the Tragedy of Man entitled London Scene. During the whole time of the exhibition, the Egypt Scene, and the Roman Scene will be continuously showing.
