The Bible, legends of saints and the world of mythology inspired the paintings of József Baksai. The characteristics of his style is the relief effect in the surfaces, the plastic handling of the paint in the pictures
The artwork of József Baksai
'Baksai József has painted his pictures for years and reached the center of Christian mythology, incarnation, the birth of a child. He searches the danger in toys, the possibility of aggression that may be traced back to the ancient traditions but are actual at the same time. The photos of Diane Arbus can inspire him just as the Nintendo or X-Box games.'

The painter discourses on his own language about the life of man today, how it is full of half-forgotten and deformed, myths and symbols that can be used to justify our cruelty. The newest pictures of Baksai are about this.' (Palotai János)
