András Mechwart lived in Buda from the 1860's when industry developed fast in Hungary. He was born in 1834 in Schweinfurt. He first worked as a locksmith, from 1859 as an engineer at the Ganz. After Mrs. Ganz died in 1867, he took over the factory and developed it under the name of Ganz and Co. He was the CEO until 1899. He built up a factory known worldwide. He received several medals, among other he received nobility. He died in Budapest in 1907.

Our museum wishes to commemorate Mechwart. We present the most important stages of his life, his work at the Ganz Factory before and after the death of Ábrahán Ganz.
