János D. Lóránt, Hungarian painter he was born in Békésszentandrás. He lives in Mezőtúr, Hungary, and in the Netherlands.

He was a student of László Vinkler at the Teacher Training College in Szeged. He was honoured with the Rippl-Rónai Award in 1971, the Munkácsy Award in 1972 and he became a Merited Artist in 1998. His versatile, unique style includes a surrealistic way of composition and an ironic aspect of portrayal.
He is the member of several Hungarian art societies.
A selection of his paintings will be exhibited on the Day of Hungarian Painting in the Mihály Munkácsy Memorial House in Békéscsaba. This event will be the first of a series of talks entitled 'Finding Munkácsy in New Ways- Introducing Mukácsy Award winners'.
