The National grotesque contest was first announced in 1991 by Kapos ART. In the future, the Grotesque Triennial will be held every three year. The Association created a grotesque collection of international contemporary artists' works participating, of which they organized an exhibition at the Újpest Gallery in Budapest, in 2002.

The Kapos ART Association will held the 9th Grotesque Fine and Applied Art Triennial in 2015. This year we have expanded the range of participants - entries came from abroad, for example from Vojvodina, Romania (Transylvania), Slovakia, Bulgaria and the Netherlands.
190 artists made the competition. As maximum of 3 works could be sent in a genre, the number of submitted works exceeded 500.
The jury selected 179 works of 117 artists to be shown in the exhibition. A significant number of the grotesque paintings, graphics are included, but the object, the statuette is also a popular genre.
