The chapel built by the palatine Gara Miklós at the beginning of the 15th century completely disappeared in the Turkish and Baroque periods. Schulek found its gates and base. He rebuilt the chapel following the plans of the Zápolya Chapel of Csütörtökhely. The remains of the Gara family were replaced. The new chapel was inaugurated in honor of King Stephen.
A taste of the exhibition
The walls of the chapel have paintings of Székely Bertalan showing the life of Saint Stephen on. Seven wall pictures and twelve colored windows appraise the artist. The window pictures show the Hungarian saints.

The Saint Stephen Chapel is the treasury of our church. The visitors may see the foot relic of Saint John of Alms from Alexandria that the Turkish sultan sent to Mathias Rex in it. The relics that were acquired by the church in the new historic period were also placed in the Baroque and Neo-Gothic relic holders of the chapel.

The gate of the chapel has the imprints of the stamps of the keepers of the crown in it. The stamps were put on the gate in 1916 when the holy crown was guarded in the chapel.
