Csontváry was associated with Csongrád County several ways: he worked in Szentes as a chemist for one year and took part in the rescue works during the time of the flood in Szeged in 1879. The flood had a considerable impression on Csontváry, so much that he left everything behind and turned to painting entirely.

This irregular Csontváry exhibition is located on two sites: early graphics and paintings are shown in Szentes. Late works by Csontváry, his more emblematic works are shown at the Móra Ferenc Museum in Szeged. The value of the works of arts is over four billion forints.
