It is the beginning for Eszter Farkas, and her memory. It is the beginning of the rediscovery of the forgotten painter, with classic education and classic spirit. The Nagybánya school laid so much claim on artists and patrons during summer courses that there are no 'second rate masters' to be found among them.

Who, just like Eszter Farkas, could spend a long time, she a decade, had a chance to go all the way, from the first steps of studies through collective ‘Plein air’ painting to individual challenges. Eszter Farkas managed to do her best during her Nagybánya career.
The genre 'Plein air' was born around the time Eszter Farkas was born. Simon Hollósy, Károly Ferenczy, Grünwald Iványi, István Réti and János Thorma fell in love with the Sun around those days. Painting art had been morose, emotional, mythological, inspired by history until then. By the time Eszter Farkas and her family moved to Nagybánya at the age of 17 in 1917, all talents there had acquired their own individual tone of voice. Various opinions, a new generation, the appearance of 'neo' artists tending towards the 'Wides' just after the end of WWII and the tragic Trianon peace treaty, the historic times arrived at a new borderline. The appearance of 'Transilvanianism' in a century cuddles up so well into spirit of the circle, into individual achievements that fine features can only be deciphered after some thorough study. When studying the oeuvre of Eszter Farkas, what seems to be edifying is his spiritual identification.
Hungarian art business is back onto the international market after half a century, Eszter Farkas pictures are on the market on a daily basis. Literature has only listed her works so far. Most of the lexicons offer wrong data on her life and art, countless details of her life. It is not by chance that her works are offered on very favourable price. It is a unique opportunity for the town of her birth, Nyírbátor, to create a highly evaluated collection of Eszter Farkas's works.
