The most known communist kibbutz in Israel is located near Tulkarem in the Kingdom of Jordan, on the boundary of the region Israel took in the Arab-Israeli War. It was formed by Hungarian youth who survived the Holocaust. They named the place Jad Hanna commemorating the Hungarian born Hanna Szenes. Officially, the kibbutz was formed on 10 April 1950. The sister and her husband of Gergely László's grandmother were among the founders of the kibbutz who were well-known of their leftist policy. They and dozens of the original founders have lived in the kibbutz ever since it was formed.

The Jad Hanna - The collective Man Project is the reconstruction of the history of a community. It intends to show differences in the middle of uniformization, the variegation of patterns and identity in the context of individual and collective memories.

In the past fifteen years, Gergely László visited the kibbutz several times, during the past two years he spent at the Jad Hanna longer time twice. He witnessed the cessation or changes 'ideal' community life that determined the formation and development of Israel.
