The BLOCK Group was created 20 years ago. With their permanent search for contacts they endeavor to be an active part of the European Cultural Scene. As a result they have been present at the national and international art-life, they have taken part in several national and international exhibitions and work-shops.

In 2008 together with the FLUSS / River group of artists, they had started an international project called SWOP / Exchange. The first BLOCK - FLUSS collective exhibition was organized in the autumn in 2008. The opening speech was held by the (also in Hungary) well known Christoph Tannert, Director of the Künstlerhaus Bethanien in Berlin, the success was remarkable. As part of the project the further exhibition of the two groups of artists will be held in Budapest. The title of the exhibition is SWOP II. Opening: 29thJuly 2010.

The aim of the international project is first to find those common points which show important similarity in the way of visual thinking and the process of creation. At the same time there are definite differences on the basis of tradition, embedded culture, private ways of thinking. On the other hand they support the process of cultural integration.

This process by no means shows towards uniformity, as maybe the best advantage of our post modern age is that variability is emphasized and differences are accepted. It is important to create and operate those circles which make possible the undisturbed co-existence of different values. The two groups of artists organize their mutual displays on the path of this conception.
